FAKTS is a fact-checking platform. It applies the same method to every claim, regardless of who made it or which side it favors. This page is the plain statement of that commitment, written to align with the transparency principles of the IFCN and the EFCSN.
One method, applied to everyone
A claim from a head of state is checked the same way as a claim from a small blog. A claim about a company is checked the same way whether or not the company is a customer, a partner, or a competitor. The consilium does not know who is speaking; it reads the claim.
No political position
FAKTS does not endorse candidates, parties, or political positions. It does not campaign for or against any government or movement. Where the evidence points one way, the verdict points that way. Where the evidence is contested, the verdict says so.
Who operates FAKTS
FAKTS is operated by RIZZ, a design and technology studio ([legal entity placeholder], registered in the European Union). RIZZ does not accept payment to change a verdict, to promote a source, or to remove a check from public view. Editorial control of the platform sits with RIZZ; the studio does not accept editorial direction from third parties.
Funding and independence
FAKTS is funded by paid subscriptions to the product, the Comply and Experts add-ons, and API access. It does not accept sponsored content, sponsored verdicts, sponsored seals, or sponsored placement in the directory. The subject of a check does not pay to be checked; the person who wants to know pays for the check.
Corrections are public
When FAKTS gets a verdict wrong, the correction is public. Reports come in through the same route on every result surface (see the corrections page), and confirmed errors are logged, not quietly overwritten. Verdicts carry timestamps and can be re-checked; certificates record when they were issued and, if revoked, when they were revoked.
Conflicts of interest
When FAKTS checks a claim that concerns RIZZ itself, its investors, or a person closely associated with the studio, that relationship is disclosed inside the result. When a check is commissioned by a party with a stake in the outcome, that commissioning is disclosed too.
What we ask of readers
Read the verdict. Read the sources it links. If you disagree with either, file a correction. This is how a fact-checking platform stays honest, and it is why every result page carries a way to talk back.
